And we’ve decided to post our first blog. OK, I, Nicole, have decided to post MY first blog when I should be sleeping. Instead I have the Monday morning day job dread, and am procrastinating facing the sandman.
I’m not a huge believer in this blogging phenomenon and the whole online diary thing. Despite writing an entire book about sexuality, I am a remarkably private person. And I’m also very selective about who I let into my bed.
Lately, I’ve been worried that because I wrote this book, I’m expected to be this slutty, sex-crazed bisexual. But then I realized that’s exactly why it was important that I write this book—because we’re not all like that. In fact, most bisexuals I know are extremely picky about who they sleep with. What can I say...most of us aren’t big into the whole STD craze, unlike Paris Hilton.
Speaking of which, what is it with lesbians who think they’re immune to STDs because they don’t sleep with men? It’s just so unbelievably ignorant. I had a conversation with a lesbian friend a month ago who didn’t even realize she could get herpes from a female partner who had a cold sore. And really, given that lots of lesbians sleep with women who sleep with men, they should be aware that they’re being exposed to typical STDs that guys spread as well — namely, HPV (which I proudly got vaccinated for over the past six months. Ladies, if you haven’t gotten the shots yet, go see your doctor immediately. Gardasil is covered by most insurance companies.)
OK, I’ll get off my soapbox. Mike and I got a great review from the Books to Watch Out For publication. I posted it under “Praise.” Also, check out our upcoming events. We have readings in NY and LA (on one Friday in L.A., in fact) and some very cool radio appearances for those lucky enough to have Sirius.
Sleep tight!
XOXO,
Nicole
