And the Lammy goes to...
...The Bisexual’s Guide to the Universe. Yes, it’s true. We actually won a literary award for being total smart asses. Many, many thanks to the bi community for being able to laugh at themselves and for supporting our book.
Apparently, the rest of the queer community got the joke, too. When our book came up on the screen as they announced the nominees, the entire audience laughed at its cover. When were announced as the winners and walked down to accept it...well, nothing can compare to that feeling.
Plus, Mike and I had a blast in New York. We saw “Avenue Q” and had a lovely time in Central Park near the fountain. We also had a great time in the East Village eating some very excellent chocolate mousse cake and savoring our win and what it means to the bi community.
Aside from the night that Mike accidentally took the subway to Queens at one in the morning and my almost missing my flight back because of some bad advice about the time it would take, everything went really smoothly. Pics from the awards coming soon...
